Mike Cheetham
Mike has been painting in a variety of media for about 20 years. Not having attended any full-time art course, he could be described as self-taught, but he has attended numerous part-time courses, and is a member of two local art clubs and two painting groups.
He describes his style as “Naive Expressionist”, and influenced by the Germans , such as Gabrielle Munter and also by the Fauves, such as Raoul Dufy, de Vlaminck, and Derain, plus Fernand Leger and various 20th Century artists such as the Scottish Colourists, Patrick Caulfield, and John Piper, but particularly the Welsh artist Gwilym Prichard. Most people find his work original, and different from most other living painters.
